Tariff Classification and Valuation
The accurate classification of imported merchandise is based on the Harmonized Tariff Schedule and is fundamental to Customs compliance. HKP counsels clients on legal and cost-efficient methods of properly classifying imported merchandise and components. HKP has successfully protested the classification and liquidation of merchandise and obtained duty refunds for clients totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars, thereby also setting the precedent for classification of future entries of merchandise at the lawfully lower duty rate. Like tariff classification, Customs valuation is fundamental to Customs compliance. Companies rely on our valuation expertise to determine the most advantageous and lawful dutiable value of their imported products.
